Races Winding Down At Top, Bottom EPL Table

There are just two games left for most teams in the English Premier League season but there is plenty of drama at both ends of the table. Three points separate the top three and only two between the bottom three, so there is everything to play for. There will be plenty of intrigue this weekend.

Cardiff City @ Newcastle – Saturday, 10:00 AM ET

Soccer Betting Odds: Newcastle +105, Cardiff +240, Draw +250

Cardiff showed no signs of life in a 4-0 loss at Sunderland, although they were a bit hard done by when Juan Cala just before halftime; he also gave up a penalty that basically ended the game for the Welsh side. But they may feel like they have a chance against Newcastle, who rolled over in a 3-0 loss at Arsenal, and they’ve now lost six in a row, scoring just one goal during that time. If Alan Pardew doesn’t keep Newcastle in the top half, he might not be back managing them next season. These two have split two meetings this season with the away team winning 2-1 both times, but Newcastle should be favored here.

Manchester City @ Everton – Saturday, 12:30 PM ET

Soccer Betting Odds: Manchester City -138, Everton +350, Draw +280

City still has a game in hand on Liverpool after a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace and while Luis Suarez won the Player Of The Year award, Yaya Toure may be the most valuable. The midfielder scored and assisted on his return to the lineup, and he will be one of the players to watch at the World Cup this summer, but he lifted his team to a win that puts them three points behind the leaders. Everton has alternated between wins and losses over its last four after falling 2-0 at Southampton, and now they’re four points behind Arsenal for the last Champions League spot, but they’ll keep fighting until the end. City won the first meeting of the season by a score of 3-1, but Everton has won 13 games at Goodison Park this season and they’ve won their last four at home against City, who might be slight road underdogs.

Liverpool @ Crystal Palace – Monday, 3:00 PM ET

Soccer Betting Odds: Liverpool -275, Crystal Palace +750, Draw +375

It looked like nerves caught up to Liverpool in their 2-0 loss to Chelsea, just their second loss at Anfield this season. While Chelsea might get criticized for their defensive style, they did what they had to do to get maximum points while having one eye on their Champions League game on Wednesday and quite frankly, Liverpool didn’t have a Plan B and looked frustrated. Palace was overrun and had no chance of stopping Toure against visiting City, and they would love to give their fans something to cheer about in their last home game of the season. Liverpool will likely be favored on the road, but it may not be easy as their 3-1 win at home earlier this season. Prior to that, Palace had three wins and a draw in five against the Reds, who have to keep their heads about them if they want to stay atop the table.
