MLS Betting: 3 Best Games To Bet On This Weekend

The stretch run to the Major League Soccer playoffs has begun, and this weekend the action starts on Friday. D.C. United welcomes New York City FC to the nation's capital. Then on Saturday, Toronto FC hosts Philadelphia Union, while on Sunday, the Seattle Sounders host the Los Angeles Galaxy in a Western showdown.

New York City FC @ D.C. United – Friday, 7:00 PM ET

NYCFC won 2-1 at Vancouver and are now eighth in the Eastern Conference, but they're only five points out of sixth, so it is well within their reach. This game will be the second of a three-game road trip as NYCFC heads to Orlando next week, and this could make or break their season, but with the midfield pairing of Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard, they certainly have a good chance. United sits at fourth in the East after a 2-0 loss in Montreal, but they return home, where they have a goal differential of +8; on the road, it's -10.

These two have met just once with NYCFC winning 3-1 at home in August.

Philadelphia Union @ Toronto FC – Saturday, 5:00 PM ET

The Union are in ninth after a 2-0 win at home over Houston, but they have a huge match on Wednesday as they face Sporting Kansas City in the final of the U.S. Open Cup, which they lost to Seattle in last year's final. They could be exhausted, one way or another, as they travel to TFC, who is in fifth after a 3-2 win over Chicago. Sebastian Giovinco is now the first player in MLS history to have 20 goals and 15 assists with four matches to go, three of which are at home. The Italian has been the spark to their offensive outburst as Toronto is tied with Los Angeles with 52 goals scored. However, their 52 goals conceded is the most in the league.

Toronto has won both meetings with Philadelphia this season, once at home and on the road, but Philadelphia had won three in a row prior to that.

Los Angeles Galaxy @ Seattle Sounders FC – Sunday, 9:30 PM ET

The Galaxy are in first in the West after a 3-2 win at home over Dallas, their first win in five matches overall, and their 50 points are the most in the league. But the difference between their home and road form has been mind-blowing as Los Angeles has 12 wins in 16 home games and a differential of +28; on the road, they have two wins and eight losses in 15 matches with a differential of -14 and two of their last three league matches are away. Seattle is in fourth, but just four points behind Los Angeles after a 1-1 draw at Kansas City, and they're one of three teams in the league with ten home wins behind the Galaxy's 12.

The Galaxy have won both meetings with the Sounders this season, but both were in Los Angeles. They haven't won in Seattle in their last three trips.
