MLS Betting: The 3 Best Major League Soccer Games To Bet On This Week

With the playoffs quickly approaching there is no doubt that the importance of games rises with every passing week and this week’s schedule is absolutely loaded with key games. Toronto FC fans have been longing for an MLS playoff appearance and with rumors of a potential coaching change swirling they will need to remain focused heading in to a key clash with Sporting Kansas City. Meanwhile, rivalry is the theme of Sunday’s doubleheader with the LA Galaxy set to take on the Seattle Sounders before New York Red Bulls and New York City FC clash for the third time this season. Here is a breakdown of this week’s three best games on the MLS schedule.

Toronto FC vs. Sporting KC
Saturday, 4:00 PM ET
MLS Odds: Toronto -107, Kansas City +268, Draw +243

Toronto FC has bigger concerns than false rumors about potential new managers and while Ole Gunnar Solksjaer isn’t on his way to Toronto a playoff appearance could be if the Reds can stay healthy and finish strong. TFC enters this week in sole possession of sixth place in the Eastern Conference but they are coming off a tough loss to New England and face another difficult challenge with Sporting KC in town this weekend. Leading goal scorer Sebastian Giovinco should be good to go despite dealing with a nagging heel bruise but there is no doubt he needs more support from his teammates. Sporting KC is also winless over its last two after last week’s 1-1 draw with Houston and considering they have struggled with consistency on the road this season this game could represent an excellent opportunity for Toronto to get back in the win column in front of a home crowd that should be jacked up. Take TFC with your MLS picks.

Pick: Toronto FC

LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders
Sunday, 4:00 PM ET
MLS Odds: Los Angeles -201, Seattle +513, Draw +299

The Sounders are reeling following four straight losses including last week’s 3-0 loss to Vancouver that left them only three points up on Real Salt Lake for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Seattle signed Austrian midfielder Andreas Ivanschitz and is hoping Clint Dempsey’s return can provide a spark but it certainly won’t be easy to get back on track in Los Angeles this week. The Galaxy bounced back from a 3-0 loss to Houston with a 3-1 win over Colorado to close to within two points of Vancouver for top spot in the Western Conference and will welcome midfielder Giovani Dos Santos to the lineup on Sunday. The Galaxy are already loaded in the middle of the field and the addition of Dos Santos will only make them that much more dangerous as they try to close the gap on Whitecaps FC at the top.

Pick: LA Galaxy

New York Red Bulls vs. New York City FC
Sunday, 7:00 PM ET
MLS Odds: New York -158, New York City +377, Draw +286

The anticipated rivalry between New York’s MLS clubs hasn’t lived up to the hype even though Red Bulls sits second in the Eastern Conference while NYCFC is just three points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Red Bulls earned a 2-1 win in their first meeting back in May and then doubled down with a 3-1 win in late June. NYCFC is hoping the arrival of Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo can help shift the momentum in their series and considering the importance of this game it wouldn’t be a surprise if the visiting side broke through with a huge win. David Villa and company have shown they can score goals in bunches this season and if they can take an early lead they could finally find a way to earn their first victory over Red Bulls.

Pick: New York City FC
