MLS Betting: The Best Bets For Saturday's Three Most Intriguing MLS Matchups

The Columbus Crew continued their march up the MLS Eastern Conference standings with a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union and entered this week with striking distance of the New York Red Bulls and DC United for first place. Columbus will have a golden opportunity to leapfrog at least one of those teams when it hosts DC United on Saturday as one of the three most highly anticipated matchups on the schedule for this weekend. Here is a breakdown of the three most intriguing matchups for Saturday along with the best MLS bets for each of those contests.

DC United vs. Columbus Crew
Saturday, 7:00 PM ET

DC United has nobody else to blame except themselves to blame but themselves for allowing precious points to slide from their grasp over the past couple of weeks as they have gone winless in four with only a single point to show for those contests. A late set piece goal helped them salvage their first point in four games with a 1-1 draw against a Colorado Rapids side that currently sits at the bottom of the Western Conference standings but they will face a much more difficult test this week when they clash with Columbus. The Crew have secured at least a point in five of their last six games including four wins and should feel confident with a chance to potentially move in to first place this weekend. Look for Columbus to come out firing from the outset and find a way to earn a crucial three points at home in this showdown.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Seattle Sounders
Saturday, 7:00 PM ET

Vancouver has rotated wins and losses in each of its last four games but they will have to stop that trend in order to avoid a loss to Seattle this weekend in a key Western Conference showdown. The Whitecaps are six points up on the Sounders in the standings but they are only a single point up on FC Dallas and the LA Galaxy and that means they don’t have much room for error. Meanwhile, Seattle is only one point up on Sporting Kansas City and the Portland Timbers for fourth in the Western Conference after running their undefeated streak to three games but they too have little room for error. Vancouver handed the Sounders a lopsided 3-0 loss in their first meeting and while we don’t expect another blowout we gave good reason to feel confident the Whitecaps will secure another important three points in this one.

Montreal Impact vs. New England Revolution
Saturday, 8:00 PM ET

Montreal is in an extremely tough spot after earning only one win over the course of its last five games and now they face perhaps the toughest competition of that stretch when they play the Revolution on Saturday. New England took a five-game win streak in to its battle with the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday and while they face a tough turnaround with only a couple of days between games they should feel confident heading in to this matchup. Look for the Impact to lay it all on the line as they look to grind out an important game and earn at least a point at home. Montreal can’t afford to lose any more ground in the Eastern Conference standings where they are currently tied in points with Orlando City SC for the final playoff spot so we expect a similar result after these teams played to a 0-0 draw in their first meeting at the start of the season.
